Take some time at dinner one night this week to read this fun fact and then discuss some of the questions.
Did you know...
…that Jesus didn't finish the last verse of his reading when he read out loud in the synagogue? In this week's gospel Jesus reads a passage from the book of Isaiah to the people in the synagogue, but he stops half way through the last sentence.
He reads the first half of the line about proclaiming the "year of God's favor," but not the second half about "the day of vengeance of our God."
Questions
Do you know what the word "favor" means? What about "vengeance?"
Why do you think it was more important for Jesus to tell people about God's favor than about God's vengeance? Why?
Take turns sharing about a time when you were angry with someone and then a time when you helped someone. Did your body feel more peaceful when you were angry or when you were helping?
